Baramulla, Nov 27 (KNO): Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa on Wednesday assured that vacancies for critical care specialists in the district would soon be filled as part of ongoing efforts to address healthcare challenges. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the DC said this during the inauguration of two new Medical Records Department (MRD) blocks and a state-of-the-art Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VDRL) at the Government Medical College (GMC) in Baramulla. The newly established MRD blocks aim to streamline patient record management and alleviate overcrowding at the hospital. Meanwhile, the VDRL facility, equipped with advanced diagnostic tools, will cater to the healthcare needs of North Kashmir, particularly in the diagnosis of venereal diseases. "GMC Baramulla serves not only Baramulla district but also patients from across north Kashmir. These new facilities will help manage the increasing patient load. Under the Aspirational District Programme, we have also constructed a waiting hall to provide comfort to visiting patients and their attendants. Under a CSR initiative, we are working to expand the Dialysis Center to further enhance healthcare services," Sherpa said. The Deputy Commissioner also addressed the issue of staffing gaps, particularly the absence of a nephrologist at GMC Baramulla. "We have taken up the matter of critical care vacancies with the government and are hopeful that these positions will be filled soon," he added—(KNO)
